WHAT WE BELIEVE

This page outlines our church’s doctrine - which can feel like a heavy word - but put simply, it’s our best way of explaining what we believe the Bible teaches us. The beliefs detailed below not only have very real implications for our personal lives, but also guide our Church as we seek after Jesus.

OUR BELIEFS

  • The Bible is God’s special revelation to mankind. Because of who God is, we believe the Bible to be inspired, without error, and the final word of authority in a believer’s life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-20

  • We believe that there is one God who is personal and exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John 6:27; John 1:1; Titus 2:12-13; Acts 5:3-4

  • Everyone who trusts Christ as their Lord and Savior will receive forgiveness of sins and experience eternal life. All who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God. John 3:1-16; John 1:12-14; Romans 6:23

Genuine Christ followers can be secure that they will spend eternity with God in heaven. Salvation is God’s work on our behalf, not based on any good we have done. All we do is respond to His gift by faith. God is the one who changes us. Therefore, it is impossible to be born into the family of God and lose one’s salvation. John 10:28-29; Romans 8:35-38; Ephesians 1:13-14

  • Because of His love, God sent His son Jesus Christ to be our Savior and Deliverer and Redeemer. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. Luke 1:34-38; John 1:1,18; John 3:16-18; John 4:6

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. We believe Christ arose bodily from the grave, that He ascended to the right hand of the Father, and that He is presently making intercession for us before the throne of God. 1 John 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15:1-6; Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Timothy 2:5

  • The Bible declares throughout that there is both a heaven and a hell. We believe that there will be a bodily resurrection of those justified by Christ unto everlasting blessedness. And we believe there will be a resurrection of the lost apart from Christ unto everlasting punishment. Revelation 20:11-15

  • Everyone who has become a disciple of Jesus Christ should be baptized as a public declaration of what Christ has done for them. Acts 8:36-39; Acts 10:43-48

  • Man was created in the image of God to bring Him glory. However, the very first man and woman sinned and incurred death—not just physical death, but also spiritual death. Since Adam and Eve, all humans have been lost and born with a sin nature and live sinful lives apart from God. Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:10-19
