Journey Bible Church (formerly Olathe Bible Church) had its beginning in 1979 when a small group of believers from a local Presbyterian church saw the need to break from the restrictions and increasingly unbiblical practices of that church. This small group reached out to Pastor Dana Halstead of Shawnee Bible Church for guidance on starting a similarly minded church in Olathe. Pastor Halstead agreed, and on September 7, 1980, Olathe Bible Church opened its doors with its first weekly worship service at Santa Fe Trail Middle School. Decades go by, two building moves, a half-dozen church plants, millions of dollars given to local and global missions, a name change, and Journey Bible Church continues to make deep disciples of Jesus in Johnson County and around the world.
