You don’t have to figure it out alone. Find support groups serving Olathe, Overland Park and surrounding communities. Journey Bible Church has a robust Foster & Adoption Ministry for those anywhere in the process of fostering and adopting. We have support groups for those going through or have gone through a divorce, and we have a group for those that have lost a loved one. We have a Facebook Prayer Group, and we have a unique ministry called Special Connections for those families who have someone in their care who has special needs.

Foster & Adoption Ministry

This ministry walks alongside families who are anywhere on the journey of adopting and fostering — whether you are considering adoption and fostering or you’ve been involved for years. We provide a community for prayer, encouragement, education and even financial assistance. We also work to engage the church body in making disciples by caring for the orphan both locally and globally. Join us for our monthly gathering called FAM Night. The dates will be September 23, October 21, November 18 and December 16.

Be sure to join our Facebook Group.

Global Orphan Support

Our church recognizes the biblical mandate to support orphans around the globe. Through partnerships in India and Ethiopia, we offer two opportunities for you and your family to financial support children in those countries.

ETHIOPIA | Lifesong for Orphans

In addition, we encourage you to download the 30-Day Orphan Sunday prayer guide.

DivorceCare

No one understands the pain of divorce and separation better than those who have gone through it. Divorce Care is a divorce support group designed to help and encourage people who are in all stages of divorce. Meetings are casual and relaxed. They are a safe environment where everyone has opportunity to share as we learn together. Divorce Care is a nationwide ministry that uses a 13-week long, video-taught curriculum.

Join us for our weekly gathering on Thursdays at 6:30pm.

For more information about Divorce Care at Journey Bible Church and to RSVP for our next meeting, please contact Tim Hartig. Visit the Divorce Care website to learn more about this nationwide ministry.

GriefShare

Few things in life can match the pain of losing someone you love. A family member. A friend. The hurt goes deep, and it can be confusing and tough to know what to do next. If you have recently lost someone close to you, our hearts ache for you, and we want to help. GriefShare is a biblically-based grief support group for men and women. It provides both comfort and practical tools for dealing with your grief.

Disability Ministry

Journey Bible Church has a ministry called Special Connections that is designed to serve children and adults who have unique needs in a variety of ways. Our heart is inclusion, and we strive to know your family and to help individuals thrive.

On Sunday mornings, this includes participation in grade appropriate classrooms with leaders who are empowered to customize care where necessary. 1:1 assistance also may be available. It is important to have a conversation with Joy Edwinson, our Special Connections coordinator, to discuss your needs so your individual has the best experience possible.

Regularly scheduled Respite Nights give caregivers an opportunity to go on a date, shop or whatever they need while trained volunteers watch their children and adult dependents at the church.

We plan to provide enrichment nights for parents and caregivers to connect, be equipped, and encouraged. Stay tuned for dates.
